Warriors of God… I know this is a heavy subject for some, but I decided to start out the men’s forum blog area with something that I believe will be a help to you.  God cares about every area of our lives and He wants to see us walking in liberty.  We are family here, and prayerfully, you will find a safe place to be set free.

CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS

II Corinthians 10: 3-6  (For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Okay Warriors... here is a sure fire way to beat the enemy in the area of  lust / pornography / fantasy etc….

I Corinthians 10: 3-6  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

Many of God’s people are tempted and end up walking in the flesh, but our battle against these enemies that wreck havoc in our lives and cause us to walk contrary to God’s desire for us are not taken down and defeated in the flesh.. God has called his men to be mature warriors who depend not on the arm of the flesh, but on spiritual weapons.  So bearing that in mind let’s take a look at verse 10:5 and see just how we can use some of God’s weapons to win the victory.

II Corinthians 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

While reading this scripture one day in preparation for a Men’s Seminar, it jumped out at me and I saw something in the spirit.  One of the primary areas the enemy tries to capture men in his net is in the area of pornography.  It is insidious and many men won’t share their hidden secret, shame or pain about this area in their lives with anyone.  So, they are left to battle this demon of lust on their own.  But while reading the scripture above, I saw a picture of a man on a horse throwing a rope up in the air and grabbing his own thoughts of lust and every high and lofty image (by the way an image is not real and that is what we see in pornography an image that is NOT real… it is our imagination that runs wild in our mind.. anyway the thoughts were lassoed and taken into CAPTIVITY.  Every thought that would exalt itself above the knowledge of what God would want in our lives brought into a place of obedience to Christ Jesus. 

So, this is what I saw.. the temptation with images comes to our mind.  We immediately come into a place of warfare and get on our battle-ready horse, grab our lasso and take hold of the false images… we pull them down and tell them out loud if necessary that they will NOT exalt themselves against the knowledge of God .. and we bring every thought captive in our hearts and minds into obedience .   We are actually using the word of God to overcome this enemy. It has been said we can’t help a bird flying over our heads, but we can prevent it from making a nest.  Some of us have a nest of lustful images that we have allowed to imbed in our heads and make a home there.  We need to evacuate the nest.

It is interesting to note that when the apostle Paul talks about spiritual warfare the first weapon he mentions is casting down imaginations. ... Our battle is to bring down every deceptive argument and every imposing defense that men erect against the true knowledge of God. We fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ. 

Paul makes it very clear that we are involved in a war!  In this battle with pornography/false images/lust/fantasy.. the battles will not always be on the same level of intensity.  In true warfare there are lulls in the battle at times as one side or the other prepares to make the next push or they are preparing a new strategy.  Rest assured the enemy will regroup when he sees you are taking a strong stance for God and will be getting ready for the next attack.  So make sure you keep your armor on.. and stay alert and do not let down when the enemy appears to be silent.  In other words, have your lasso ready!

And remember if God calls us to temperance He already has a way for us to totally walk in it. In the New Testament the most common Greek word for self-control is temperance, KJV.  Its root meaning is power over oneself or self-mastery.  Self-control, is really mastery over our own passions.  It holds our appetites in check, and it controls our rational will or regulates our conduct without being swayed by sensuous desires.  I pray for each one reading this word that the Lord will help strengthen them in their inner man to walk in temperance.  That they will know they are warriors in God’s kingdom and will be willing to do the battle to take the place of integrity God has for them.

I think the most amazing verse in this whole passage  II Cor 10:3-6) is the last one.  God is so amazing!!!  He states after we have gone through these passages and have learned how to overcome, we will have the opportunity to help others who are battling the same thing… we will be ready to avenge the enemy and his plans to tie the noose around someone else’s neck as he tries to entrench other believers.   Once God is sure of our obedience, we will be ready to punish every disobedience. Meaning we can lovingly help a brother out of this same mess!!

(II Cor 10:6)  And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled

A GOODBYE LETTER TO MY FATHER

This is the last letter ever written to my father. At the time of this writing, he was living in Muscatine, Iowa in a nursing home under the loving caretaking of my sister Carolyn and brother in law John, whom he had lived with for years. My brother Charles and his wife, Carolyn also visited frequently, along with my brother Al, and his wife Marge, and sister Vi who came to see Dad when she was in the area from California with her husband Chuck.

I was told at the time of the writing of this letter, that he did not have long to live. My present circumstances prevented me from seeing him in person, and I had just been there to see him from our home in Florida recently.

My father passed away about a year and one half ago. He not only knew the Lord, but displayed the attributes and character of Christ to me. He is loved and missed by his family. I look forward to seeing him again some day soon. 6/20/11

Dad,

You are so loved!

You have been in this place many times and many times you have surprised us all and pulled through clinging on to life. We also have many people praying for you at this time.

All of our hearts are for you during this time, you are loved and appreciated much.

Our prayer for you is that you might experience the peace that passes all understanding at this time. You are a living spiritual being and life is a journey that leads us from birth to the heavenly gates of God’s glory. It is okay to let go of this life, life beyond is a blessing and we will one day meet again on the heavenly shores.

Although this may be difficult in the natural it is sometimes easier. It is not giving up it is what we have been born for and prepared for all of our lives. This is very difficult for me not knowing how long you have left on this earth, but the one thing I know is that God is with you and that gives me a peace.

The opportunity to share life with you has been a pleasure and I am glad you were my earthly father. Your life was poured out as a blessing to me as I grew up you were more special than words could ever express.

There comes a time in life when those that have been created are able to enter an experience in life to be at home with the Creator. This is the most awesome celebration of life for it is uninmaginable to the natural mind. Streets of gold, a mansion prepared for you, no more pain and suffering, no more tears, joy unspeakable and full of glory, the experience of heaven is nothing short of glory unveiled only to the select few that have passed on from this life to the next. There will be no more need for miracles for you enter into the presence of the Lord and that is beyond explanation. The reason there is no need for a miracle there is because it is a different realm where everything is in a creative realm exsisting with the one who loves us most.

Memories of you will live on to many generations; your songs, your poetry, your well lived life, your love, the interesting things you did and accomplished. The children you had influence upon and their children and their children’s children.

A simple prayer for you!

Heavenly Father

You have given us so much. Thank you for the gift of life, for all the treasures we received, through the wealth of those who have loved us and those who we have loved.

This body of my earthly father is frail and damaged and now we ask You to grant us peace, as we begin our next journey, to a new life, free of pain and suffering. Ease the sorrow of those we leave behind, knowing that we will always live on in their heart.

Take my hand and lead me now, until that time when we shall meet again, on that day where there is no sunset and no dawn. Amen

I wish there was a way that I could see you but financially we are having a very difficult time. It seems like we just have one calamity after another. We are active selling jewelry and other items but the buyers are far and few between and they are not spending the money like they were a year ago.

I would love to give you another hug and let you know you are so loved with the expression of touch and the ability to communicate face to face.

A FATHER’S LETTER TO HIS SON

Dear Child,

No one born of his Father would choose to be illegitimate or give up his inheritance - not knowingly. Yet, my child, through discouragement and unbelief you have even questioned that you were my child - questioned my love for you. Have you forgotten how valuable you are to me? Have you forgotten I chose you before you knew me? Have your weaknesses and faults become so magnified in you that you no longer believe that I have forgiven you? I know you. I love you. I long to fellowship with you. Like a father who is tucked away in an "Old Folks' Home" with many children who don't visit him ­ that's how I feel when you stay away day after day.

I'm writing this letter to you because I long to see you face to face. Nothing could give me greater joy than to hear your voice call my name. I have things I want to share with you if you have time to listen. I might just have some wisdom that would help you with your difficulties.

The one seeking to keep us apart has lied to you and told you that I'm angry with you and that I don't want to see you anymore. Believe me, that is not true. Nothing can separate you from my love. Remember how I paid off all your debts so you could be released from prison? Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that you still owe him - trying to put you back behind bars.

Another lie you've been told is that I am ashamed of you - my own child. That too is a lie to separate us. I am not ashamed of you. My own life and blood flow through you. You were created in my image. You need never be ashamed that you are mine.

There is one more thing I want to say before I close. I will always, always love you. I will not turn my face away from you nor will I give your inheritance to another. I'm listening now for the sound of your voice - even a whisper in your heart for me, your Father. Come quickly to meet me. I will run to you my child.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY MY JOE!

I met Joe in December of 2005 one year after the loss of my husband Bart who died of a brain tumor.  Joe and I met on Christian Mingle in a prayer room early in the am.  I was not looking for a mate, but found it comforting to chat with those who were going through similar trials as myself.  I was actually in the process of running from the pain of the many losses and crisis situations I had encountered within the last 5 years before meeting Joe.  However, he was determined we were to be together and pursued me!!  We were married in October of 2007 almost two years after we met.  I know now that there was a purpose for both of us being together as he died so shortly after we were married.

 

This was my Father's Day tribute to my husband Joe in 2011.  He was going through a particularly difficult time then and needed some encouragement.  Little did I know at the time that this would be his eulogy.  Joe passed away suddenly and tragically on February 1, 2013 from complications due to gallbladder surgery and subsequent liver failure.  He went through so much the last few weeks of his life ... His remains will be buried at the ocean ...I miss you Joe.. Rest in peace.

My Dearest Joe,

You are loved more than words can say.  I want to thank you today for being not only husband, friend, companion, wonderful cook, the best of listeners, and man who tries to do his best, but the one I have the blessing of living with!  You are someone who holds on to his dreams and aspirations, but most of all, you are a man who I can truly say loves God. There are so many stories I could tell about you, the man I love.. but for today I will have to leave some stories untold for another time!

In the depths of woman's being, is a  desire more than anything, for a man who loves God and loves her.  A man who knows how to "father" his wife is a wise man indeed.  One who has the attributes of  The Father is a treasure in life and should not be taken lightly.  You are one such man.  I am so grateful to God for you and so appreciative of all the things you do, but most of all for who you are.

This gift to you is the story of YOU from my point of view!  There really isn't any order to how I wrote it, just thoughts that came to my mind as I started writing, so it may seem a bit mixed up, but I hope you get the gist of what I am trying to convey to you.  You are a gift to me my friend.  My heart is also that you would see how much of the Father's heart I believe you have not only for God, but for others.  I know you have been feeling very down lately, but it is good to look at the good things when that happens.

We bring out the best in each other (sometimes the worst too! LOL) and I know I would not have survived these last few years if it had not been for you beside me, my love ... being patient, Fathering me and loving me, and never judging me for all the emotions I was going through from losing so many people in my life just before I met you.



Thank you for being there when the pain was so great of losing Bart, only you were able to reach down into my heart and touch me with life again, I will forever be grateful for that.  You spoke tenderly to me and comforted me greatly .. just like a loving Father would do at such a time.  You let me run from all I was trying to deal with in such losses and stayed close by as a safety net for me.

I thought you might find it fun to take a little walk down memory lane with me.  I have known you now since December of 2005 when you came into my life a year after Bart's death.  We have been through many difficult times together, and yet we have withstood insurmountable storms, and awesome sunshines haven't we?  Many times we were going to part our ways, but somehow we overcame.

The first pictures we ever saw of each other on Christian Mingle. You said you liked my earrings.. "Yea right!!!!" But, even back then we had an interest in jewelry together ..  Amazing!  Who knew that we would be creating jewelry designs together?

But, you never let me totally fall in despair through all the time I have known you .. you watched over me and continue to do so. I could get so easily derailed in life.. thank you for keeping me on track~  What blessed qualities of the Father's love you have displayed in my life.

And, you continue to share the truth about Jesus and His coming return, the Father's heart is for people to know the truth so it may set them free

The Father's heart is that we know He is the one who parts the sea for us to pass when Pharoah's Army is coming in on all sides against us.. thank you Joe for endeavoring to trust God in those times.  We are learning to be grateful and to trust Him more and more each day aren't we?

Your Father's heart for the orphans and little ones is so touching, it makes me realize God has much for you yet to do

Your desire to spread God's word to the nations causes my heart to sing such as wanting to put teachings on New Zealand Radio

Just as Jesus Fathered multitudes and reached out to the ones others would shune, you have reached out to those others would turn away from

 

You have a heart to see the Harvest come forth, something that touches Father God's heart so much

You were fathered by a man who was wholesome, clean stock something you can be proud of, and your mother too, who prayed for you

You are of good heritage of hard working people.  You are an example of a hard working man.  Thank you for that.

What a joy to know your family loves you .. that is the Father's heart towards you my dearest one.

You have a heart of giving and have a deep heart for worshipping God.  You know how to help others come into a greater place of worship too.  I am pasting an im conversation we had years ago into this post for a small example:

When I asked the Lord why you had died He told me: "God giveth, and God taketh away, blessed be the Name of the Lord".  So I bless the Lord for allowing you to be in my life.. I have learned much about loving from being with you dearest one, and I thank you Lord for taking into Your loving arms of love to be with You forever...

 

These are the last pictures taken of Joe .. He took me on a surprise trip to Disneyland a few days before Christmas December 2012 ..Little did we know at the time it would be our last trip together.. It was a wonderful, peaceful and blessed time together.  We didn't go into Disney proper, but spent the day going from Disney Resort to the next.  Fun!

I will cherish the times we have had together my friend and husband.  You fought the good fight to live.  I release you to God to find JOY in the Father's presence .. you loved to dance, and so many people talked about how they saw you dancing in heaven... I saw you filled with JOY ... so I will hold on to that and look forward to when we will meet again one day .. Thank you Joe for all you have been to me.  I love you .. Your Donsie
